I am now officially a university student! I just enrolled online into my 5 year commerce/economics degree at the University of New South Wales. It's so exciting. I can't wait to start. Not so much because of the degree (LOL) but more of the new experience of university. I wonder what it's going to be like...

I think the best experience I got from college was the time I spent in the dorms---long conversations which helped me decide how I wanted to live my life with roommates and floormates. Plus, I lived in a co-ed-by-room dorm, so I got to spend time with guys in a non-sexual way. (it was uncool to date one's floormates---kinda like kissing one's cousin.) Since I grew up with just one sister, having male friends to hang out with was a new and educational experience.

So, what I am saying in a long-winded way (sorry) is: I think living on-campus is worth all the tradeoffs like institutional food, lack of privacy and so forth. (But I am willing to admit that maybe it was only worth it for me, and that you might already have those life experiences, or be able to better get them some other way.)

That's the best thing about uni: getting to be in charge of one's own learning.
